How this project came together

   The challenge

   Years of use had left the concrete stained, the floor drain had rusted, and wood shelves, bins and equipment crowded the walls. It held a lot of stuff, but it didn't feel like part of the home.

   What we did

   Studio A designed the new look, and The Coatings Authority finished the concrete in a speckled flake coating that carries up the stair treads. The walls went a brightened white, gray slatwall panels and overhead racks moved storage up off the floor, and a new black drain cover replaced the rusted one. At the entry stairs, a clean half wall with a wood cap took the place of the old railing.

   The result

   A bright, tidy garage from floor to ceiling, with storage up off the floor and surfaces that are easy to keep clean.
