Double Island Delight

The project story

How this project came together

1. 1

   The challenge

The original kitchen had too small a footprint for how this family lives. With one island and limited counter space, there wasn't enough room to prep, cook and gather at the same time. Dated finishes, like gray-painted cabinets, a busy mosaic backsplash and beige tile floors, made the space feel heavier than it was.

2. 2

   What we did

We expanded the kitchen into the adjoining porch space and reworked the layout around two custom islands, one for prep and one for gathering. Every finish was updated: custom wood cabinetry, white quartz countertops, a glossy white subway tile backsplash and durable wood-look flooring throughout. A double wall oven, a gas cooktop under a stainless hood and smart storage, like pull-outs, drawer organizers and a corner unit, make the new kitchen as practical as it is beautiful.

   The result

The family finally has room to spread out, cook together and gather around the islands, and the warm, bright design feels like them. Vaulted ceilings and big windows now light up a kitchen that's open, organized and made for everyday life.
